Baccarat : Baccarat – an Easy Casino Game

By Andrea Klein

Level: May 16th 2007
In the past, Baccarat was considered a game for millionaires. In the casino, it was played in private rooms and one should have a minimum of $100,000 in order to be allowed to enter the game. In time, mini-baccarat came into the light. It's the same game, but without all the pompous habits. The game is performed on a Blackjack-style table with one dealer and a shoe. The shoe has multiple decks of cards.

The game is very easy to play and the house advantage is one of the lowest in the casinos. These facts make Baccarat one of most played casino game.

There are two hands implied in the game – the Banker and the Player. Each one is dealt two cards. Then, depending on the hand's value, the banker and the player can pick up an additional card. The winner is the hand that gets as close to 9 as possible. All face cards value 0 or 10 if you prefer. It means that a hand of a King and a 4 is equivalent with four. A hand of a 9 and 4 is valued three. It happens like this because ten is zero and the count restarts.

The gaming table has three betting areas: Player, Bank wager and Tie. A player has to choose between these three betting spots. Usually, the Bank and the Player are the most frequent wagered areas. It’s important to keep in mind that the Bank has a small edge because it is the last in the playing sequence. Hence, you have to pay only 5% for each winning wager you place on the Bank.

If you play the mini-Baccarat version, the dealer holds the cards and gets into the game. You just place your bets as desired. But if you want to raise your adrenaline and feel you control the game then play the high roller version of Baccarat.

When you win with the Bank or Player, you will be paid back the same amount that you wagered, plus your original wager. The ties are paid 9 for 1. The commissions from bank wins can be paid at anytime. Usually, players pay it when it is equal with their betting unit. Imagine you have a $5 betting measurement and each bank win will take you 25 cents. It would be simpler to let it accumulate until it hits $5.

If you play baccarat in a real casino, you have to know there is available a writing instrument and a sheet at the table in order to track your hands. Online baccarat players can use whatever they have around in case the online casino doesn’t track the hands for them. The tracking system makes this game even simpler than it is. So, enjoy playing baccarat.
