Don't believe any of these blackjack myths because they're money losers:
1st Myth: The object of the game is to get as close to 21 points as possible
The object of the game is to beat the dealer's hand, not to get as close to 21 as possible.
2nd Myth: You will lose because of bad players at the table
Sometimes bad players can make bad decisions that will cause the entire table to lose. But the same players also sometimes make decisions that will bring a win to the entire table. They don’t affect the outcome of the game in the long term whatsoever.
3rd Myth: If you have blackjack, take insurance
One of the worst bets in blackjack is insurance because it reduces 13% of the blackjack’s profit. You should take insurance only if you are a card counter and the situation requires it.
4th Myth: The dealer can be HOT or COLD
The deck composition is in your favor when you are on a winning streak and is against you when you are on a losing streak. The dealer doesn't influence the sequence of the cards, he simply follows some rules.
5th Myth: You can lose because of players that enter in the middle of a shoe
This is wrong; a player that enters, or leaves in the middle of a show, or takes an extra card doesn't influence your streak.
6th Myth: You will soon win
If the dealer has won a consecutive number of hands, you will win soon. The previous cards do not influence the future hands, they are irrelevant.
7th Myth: The 2 (deuce) is the dealer’s most favorable card
This is not true, the dealer has more chances of winning when his up card is a 10 or an Ace. The deuce is considered the most favorable card for the dealer because it has a low “bustability” risk: if the total is 12, only 10 can bust it.
8th Myth: Splitting a 9, 9 against the dealer’s 9 is a bad decision
If the player does not split in this situation he has 18 points. The dealer can have 19 points, meaning the player will lose. The player loses more often if he doesn’t split in this situation.
