ScanSafe Ltd., a leading global provider of web security solutions, has discovered that in spite of the new laws implemented in America which interdict US banks and financial societies to practice online gambling-related payments, Americans are still gathering into online gambling sites.
The company said that approximately 77% of the ScanSafe's US customers attempted to visit an online sports betting site in the week between January 23rd and January 31st this year.
ScanSafe inspects more than 6 billion web requests each month. The company did not offer an concrete number of visits to online gambling sites during the past week, but it did reveal that last year 3.4 % of the content was blocked because it was online gambling-related and 3.9 % because of its porn-related content.
Dan Nadir, vice president for product strategy at ScanSafe, mentioned the fact that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) implemented in the United States last year, had a very little influence on the number of American's that visit online gambling sites.
Nadir sustained that famous online sports betting site, like Bodog.com, experienced a lot of visits in the last month. He stated that about 53 % of all online gambling visits were sports betting-related and approximately 84 % of the company's clients blocked their employee's right to access the online gambling portals, mainly because they don't want their employees to gamble online while they're working.
