In an article about slots, John Robison sustained that the RNG (random number generator) always generates 100 or more numbers each second. But, does this also apply to VP (video poker) machines? In general, how many singular "cards" are produced each second by the RNG?
John replied that the RNG in a video poker machine will also generate 100 or more numbers each second. The program in the machine establishes how many cards each number symbolizes. In a slot machine, one number could signify the result for one roll or the results for all the rolls on the machine. In a video poker machine, one number could correspond to just one card or it could stand for five cards, depending on how the machine is designed.
Next, a team of three US restaurant designers will mention some bizarre experiences that they had while gambling. The players were located in Northern California and did allot of Casino work in Reno and Carson City. In doing so they had some interesting experiences.
First of all, while they were in Carson City, a casino owner delayed their appointment for a couple of hours. Why? Just to set one of them up as a runner. He was given $300.00 and told on which machines to play. He was not permitted to keep his winnings, being able to play just for fun. He was told that the runners’ job was to motivate the other casino slot players.
The next event occurred while they were at an opening party for a casino restaurant on North Virginia Ave in Reno. The designers were sitting at the bar together with one’s wife who was talking to the bartender. After a few drinks, his wife asked the bartender if he knew the best machines to play. The bartender went into the backroom behind the bar and come back with the slot mechanic, who asked her to follow him.
The slot mechanic went to a slot nearest the entrance, and "arranged" some things inside the machine. After a few moments, he closed the machine and told her to go ahead and play.
She instantaneously won forty dollars and screamed about it as if she hit a million. She snatched her winnings and began to leave the slot when the mechanic stopped her and said: "Hey, where are you going? The machine is set!" and she continued playing.
The third incident was at the Peppermill in Reno. There, the three designers were playing their favorite slots. One of them won a $400 pot in a few rolls. So, he decided to play the dollar machine with the casino's money and called one of the casino's staff to ask if there was a dollar machine that stood out more that another. He promised that if he wins she will win too.
The employee leaded the player in front of a machine but told him not to play yet. After disappearing for a few moments she returned with a second person who she sat at the next machine and said that they can begin to play. Soon he won his first jackpot, then another and another. She mentioned that those machines tickle each other, meaning that if both are being played the slots pay out more often. He won 7 med. size pots for a total of $2,700, giving the employee $20.00 each time it hit.
Unfortunately, these incidents do occur, and John Robison recognized that this happened to him too, in Atlantic City. There, he kept losing on the machine he was playing and a lady next to him kept winning. As an ending joke, he stated that it would be interesting if we start to tickle each other. That really would give a special meaning to the gambling community.
