Weird is the world we live in today, having ex-presidential candidate Al Gore the environment's self-appointed No.1 campaigner, Paris Hilton sentenced to jail days…in a real prison and more.
Another thing that confirms to me the strange days we are living in is the fact that PayPal, the world's top online payment processor agreed to process online lottery payments for lottery tickets and as far as I know, lotteries are part of the gambling world.
For those who don't know, a few years ago PayPal.com opened the door for another leading online payment processor, Neteller, when they announced they will no longer process any online gambling-related payments.
Now, back to my bewilderment ... if a person who buys lotto tickets through a website, wouldn’t that be considered online gambling, and PayPal wouldn’t then process online gambling payments? And I ask myself, why has PayPal made that sudden change of policy, and how do they decide which forms of online gambling payments are acceptable and which aren’t?
In my humble opinion, lotteries are more likely to encourage underage gambling because lottery tickets are so cheap and available to anyone. Nevertheless, I assume this is at least good news for several lottery corporations and above all online lottery enthusiasts.
