The European edition of the World Series of Poker will be held in London, at only two months after the ending of the 39th annual Las Vegas Series.
The WSOP Europe starts on Sept. 6 and ends with approximately $19,600 Main Event, which will be held at London Clubs International in its Fifty, Leicester Square, and Sportsman casinos.
Every tournament champion will be given the classical WSOP gold bracelet. Jeffrey Pollack, the WSOP Commissioner, said that the bracelet will have the similar reputation as the Las Vegas awards. At this moment the bracelet design is not completed, but it will have the word "Europe" notably displayed.
In a press release, Pollack said that the World Series of Poker Europe will have a distinctive identity, style and flair, but will continue to remain true to the 38-year tradition and custom.
Pollack mentioned that the WSOP Europe is meant to be a tribute to the American version by being held after the summer's American series. At this time, the strategy is to have the WSOP Europe go after the Las Vegas tournament on an annual basis.
Distinct from the Texas Hold'em heavy Las Vegas WSOP, the European adaptation will highly feature H.O.R.S.E and pot-limit Omaha.
The H.O.R.S.E. tournament starts on Sept. 6 at the Leicester Square Casino, which officially opens on April 1 and will be the main showpiece of WSOP Europe. On Sept. 8, at the Leicester Square Casino, the Pot-Limit Omaha tournament will be played and the No-Limit Hold'em Main Event is held at all three casinos on Sept. 10.
Gamblers will be united on Sept. 13, gambling for the WSOP Europe Main Event Championship at the Leicester Square Casino. Pollack intends to continue expanding the WSOP brand in other countries of the world, but no clear or concrete policies have been broadcasted.
Pollack also stated that his objective is to bring to life the WSOP brand on a year-round basis. Ultimately, he said that their goal has been and always will be to organize very popular poker events.
