It's not too hard to win at blackjack; all you need is patience and practice.
The Card Value and the Card Count
You need to learn how to count cards, which is not too difficult to do. The cards from 2-6 get a value of +1, the ones from 7-9 get a value of 0, and the ones from 10-A get a value of -1. The high valued cards 10-A are good fro you, the 7-9 ones are neutral, and the low valued ones 2-6 are good for the house.
Now you must observe each card that is being dealt and then calculate the total value. Pay attention to the second card that is dealt to everyone. Let's take the following example: 1st seat has 2 and 7, 2nd one has J and 4, 3rd one has 8 and 10, 4th one has 4 and 3, and the dealer has a Q.
Now it's time to count: 1st seat has +1, 2nd one has 0, 3rd one has -1, 4th one has +2, and the dealer has -1. The total value is +1. The higher the total value is the more you should bet because the more 10’s and A’s are dealt the higher chances of winning. When you see that the value is rising, raise your bet as well.
The Betting Size and the Bankroll
Your maximum bet should be at least four times your betting unit. In our case it would be $4. Make sure that you have enough money to split or double down if the opportunity arises.
Always keep a running count

The Betting Size and the Bankroll
- The betting unit should be at most 1/10000 of your total bankroll.
- The bankroll represents the amount of money you afford to spend
- You should have thirty-two betting units for each cash hand session: If you bet $1 per hand you should have at least $32 in your pocket.
- Drop the unit size to half if you lose half of your bankroll
- Increase your betting units 2,5 times if you win half your bankroll
- You won't go broke if you make these adjustments to your bankroll
Your maximum bet should be at least four times your betting unit. In our case it would be $4. Make sure that you have enough money to split or double down if the opportunity arises.
Always keep a running count
- Estimate the number of remaining decks
- Divide the Running Count by the number of remaining decks, and the result is the True Count.
- From the True Count subtract 1 and then multiply the result by your betting unit. Play two hands with that amount of money. Bet as little as possible if the running count is less than 0.
