To Tip or Not to Tip?

By Carly C.

Blackjack is just one of those games that strategies do not always transcend all types of venues that host the game. Players will often find brick and mortar casino blackjack games warrant different strategies than those of online casinos. Those that love blackjack online generally gravitate to those live games at most of the top casinos, leaving the computer for real live games.

Many players are developing more inventive blackjack strategies at those actual casinos such as tipping a blackjack dealer. This is one strategy that can be used on different casino games when sitting down to a table at an actual casino. Players should know that tipping a dealer is not really going to change the game dramatically. All of the cards in a game of blackjack are drawn at random. Not matter how much buttering up a player does with the dealer, the odds can’t be tipped in a player’s favor just through tipping.

Some do not consider tipping a blackjack dealer as a strategy. Some players see it as trying to payoff the dealer for better odds. Others say it is just plain cheating. However more and more are accepting this tactic at most casinos.

No matter what a player may believe about this "Strateg" in regards to ethics, the bottom line remains. It is still thought to be a strategy towards a casino bonus and there are several ways to go about tipping the dealer in that next game of blackjack.

• The best idea is to tip the dealer when a player is actually winning.

• Players should try and tip once every hour, in little amounts when they are winning at that blackjack game.

• Players should know what a casinos policy is on tipping. Some do not allow players to give the dealers a tip. Players should make sure they know what type of casino they are playing at before slipping the dealer a crisp $20.

• One strategy is to place a bet on the dealer’s behalf. A player can go about this by placing their chips near their own to place the dealer’s bet as well. If a player wins, the dealer will also. This would double the tip a player would leave.

• Another means to tip the dealer can be done if a player tells the dealer and the table that if they win, the dealer will get a tip. It is customary to do this by placing the dealer’s tip in the actual chips, topping a player’s chips. Should a player win, their winnings can be collected as tip. Players can also have those winning just carry over to the next hand of the game.

Most blackjack strategies imply odds reasoning, but tipping the dealer is not one of them. This strategy does make gameplay more fun and enjoyable and may even help establish some casino connections and extend interactions. Obviously, tipping the dealer cannot be practiced at online casinos. Blackjack games online do not even allow for tips in any way, usually not even supplying live dealers.
