Considering the fact that gambling is a very important source of growth to any region, legalizing it in Israel would have several effects, positive, but also negative, on the country. Presently, in Israel gambling is illegal although there are several attempts to present a case in order to make gambling legal, and hypothetically of having a casino in Eilat.
There are social and economic forces if there is to be a casino in Israel that are under investigation, in addition to the forecasted financial performances of the organization. Finally, after the conclusion that there is a good reason to further investigate the topic, was reached, some suggestions were made to policy makers and investors that could involve making a casino in Israel a dream come true.
Although the State of Israel has so many characteristics of a western country, the fact still remains that it has no separation of religion and state, but still it is interested in the project. That is why the religious groups in Israel, that always play a significant role in the Knesset, and of course who are against gambling, succeeded in blocking this project.
However, besides the ever growing popularity of gambling, there are facts stating that Israelis have to travel abroad just to gamble, thus spending a lot of Israeli money in the process, and the money that is spent in those countries, sustains the cause of legalizing gambling, because it might just be a worthy economic venture for Israel to have a casino of its own.
Thus, the money that are spent abroad will thrive within Israel’s own economy. Also, there is the fact that if gambling is legalized, the irregularities regarding the illegal gambling would be cut down, if not eradicated permanently from the country. In turn, it would also decrease the crime levels, and related felonies linked with these illegal casino establishments.
