How would you react if you were playing at an online casino, win al lot of money, but you couldn’t get your winnings? It is not the casino’s to blame, because you were the reason why you were not allowed to claim the money. And to make this scenario credible, here is something very similar that did happen to someone. It involves a South African gambler, horse racing, a pair of pants and a washing machine.
If you have what it takes, for hearing about a winning gambler not being able to claim his earnings then read on to find out what happened. There is a possibility, that a man from South Africa may be remembered throughout history as one of the unluckiest gambling winners ever.
Everything happened in Gabon, South Africa when his luck ran out. The unlucky gambler properly predicted the first five finishers in a horse race that took place on 12 September. And according to the odds it had, he should have won $170,000.
But unfortunately he was not able to claim the big winnings for the reason that his wife naively washed the winning ticket that was still in his pants at the time. And the truth is that the gambler we are referring to was the only person that managed to pick the right order for the first five finishing horses. Even the bookmakers where he placed the bet were aware that he ultimately chose the winning order. Because they keep duplicate records of all the bets that are placed and are able to corroborate that someone did actually place a bet on the winning order of finished horses and therefore has to claim the money.
But, unfortunately, since his winning ticket was shattered in the washing machine, he was not able to produce the ticket for confirmation and state his winnings. The bookmaker’s PR agent explained the difficulty in detail as to why the winner could not claim his earnings: The next day, a man arrived at our offices, declaring that he had got the right order, which we already were aware of because we keep duplicates of all bets.
Unfortunately, he was not able to present the green part of his ticket, acting as proof, and explained how his wife had washed the trousers he had left it in...In spite of his best efforts, he was not capable of regaining the slightest shred and after seven days, we were forced to declare the ticket lapsed, according to our rules. So in fact he cannot claim the winnings and they have already been rolled into the next jackpot. Now that is clearly a case of a winner’s bad luck.
