Gambling/General : The UK Supercasino is on hold

The government has confirmed that no progress will be made on Manchester's Super casino bid until next month. The DCMS (The Department for Culture, Media and Sport) said that before the elections, May 3, any attempt to break a stand-off between the House of Commons and the House of Lords over the casino's issue would be futile.

A DCMS spokeswoman stated that the Parliament was on Easter brake until the middle of this month, and because of the local elections any progresses concerning the casino are impossible.

The first U.K Supercasino was to be built in Manchester, and would have more than 1,000 unlimited-jackpot casino slot machines. The House of Commons agreed with the idea, but the House of Lords voted against it. Before the construction can begin both the Houses must agree. If the casino is constructed, it will offer nearly 3,000 jobs.
