The Time Magazine has clearly made a divisive choice in placing a long-time rival of online casinos in its list of Top 10 U.S. Senators this week. Jon Kyl from Arizona is well renowned for his anti-gambling posture and his several tries to ban online gambling casinos, by introducing an appropriate legislation.
With all this aside, Time Magazine chose to ignored Kyl’s campaign against the online casino industry, and instead, they mentioned the fact that he is known for his tireless efforts to promote Republican values and that his steadfast loyalty to his party have earned him the honor of a spot in the Top 10.
The legislation that Kyl has proposed against the online casino has utterly failed to pass both House and Senate floors in the past. The most recent attempt to attach such a legislation, to an unrelated bill, which happened last year was met with some strong objections from a Democrat Senator in the House and efficiently sidelined Kyl’s efforts that were meant to receive further support for it.
It is well know, that the word of the Arizona Senator is very powerful, Democrat rival Jim Pederson says that he is not impressed by Time Magazine’s choice. Not long ago, a spokesperson for Pederson has declared that reliable party loyalty should not be taken as a compliment, and continued to say that the long time adversary of the online casino is incapable of becoming an independent voice in Washington. And such close remarks, were imminent from several operators of online casinos.
Not to mention the fact that Kyl’s tries have with time gained strong support within the Republican party anti-gambling campaigners haven’t faired very well in the recent weeks.
The bill of senator Bob Goodlatte aimed at stopping financial institutions from processing transactions to the online casino was not very successful. Very similar, Jim Leech’s recent debate with online casinos operator John Carruthers put the U.S. government in not such a good light, when the Senator refused to visit Carruther’s amenities so as to learn more about the prevention of compulsive gambling problems.
