Gambling/General : Traditional Gambling Versus Online Gambling

Gambling was invented a very long time ago, but only in the last century has it been a world wide phenomenon. There are two types of casinos. One type is the traditional casino, a casino where the player can go to and play the games that are available. Of course everybody plays the casino games to make as much money as possible.

Three games are available in a traditional casino: table games, machine games, and random games. When a person wants to play a casino game, their money are converted into chips and they are used in the game. There are games that require an amount of money to join, there are others that don't. Usually the games that have an entry fee, offer big prizes.

Slot machines are the only games that don't use the chips. They use real money and they have different coin denominations: quarter, nickel, 1 dollar, 5 dollars and so on. The traditional casinos have the odds on their advantage and that means that the more a person plays the games, the more likely is for them to lose.

Not all the players realize this, but when they do it is advisable to go and play at another table. The traditional casinos have another disadvantage: they do not give the player the real payout for winning. For example in a game that has 1 to 4 odds, if a player wins he should be paid 4 times the amount of his bet. In reality he is paid only 3 times.

The second type of casino is the online casino. If one wants to play in such a casino he must have a computer and an internet connection. Then he can download the software program from the casino's website in order to be able to play their games.

Online casino games are the ones that can be found in a traditional casino. Online casinos are more lucrative because they offer higher payback percentages and bonuses for signing in.

The disadvantage with online casinos is that sometimes the player doesn't get paid in time because the casinos hope that he/she will lose their money next time he/she plays.

Some casino software programs might also have viruses which damage one's computer so before downloading the software it is advisable to ask others about the program.

Many choose to gamble because they think that gambling will solve their financial problems. The reality is different: more people lose than win when they gamble. Each of these casinos have disadvantages and advantages, but they shouldn't be tried until one is sure that it doesn't get addicted too fast. Gambling can become addictive very fast and it can ruin lives.
