College odds for the 2006 Heisman Trophy
By Joni Hawk, Jun 26th 2006This week, The Greek Sportsbook is the first to make public odds on the number 1 recruiting class for incoming freshman for 2007. The Greek will use the rankings that are found at Rivals.com one, of the premier recruiting services and websites for grading of the wager.
Rivals.com rankings are updated on a daily basis during the school year and they modify fast, all of which should make for competitive wbetting and exciting action during the recruiting season.
Serious college football fans following the recruiting trail all year know that one key player may make possible a team to move up the rankings. The battles that take place on the field are sometimes secondary to the battles that occur for players in their parents homes.
The Greek Sports Book posted odds for the 2006 Heisman Trophy, which will be awarded faintly at the beginning of December, soon after the 2005 ceremony. The current odds reflect player suspensions or other events that may have affected the market.
Brady Quinn is the current favorite at +250 and Quinn should make a good case for the award with a convenient schedule and weekly national television coverage. He is the Senior quarterback of Notre Dame and it is believed that he will get in the NFL draft in the off-season.
The second favorite is Adrian Peterson of the Oklahoma Sooners at +400. The junior running back was held back by injuries last season, but if he can duplicate his freshman season's performance he may be the one who brings home the award.
Ohio State's do everything offensive weapon Ted Ginn appears a generous +1500. The Buckeye's are one of the favorites to appear in the Fiesta Bowl and Ginn has to figure seriously in their offensive plans. Ginn's speed and aptitude to return punts for touchdowns should afford him plenty of "highlight reel" footage for the voters to see before they cast their ballots.
