Problems for Online Casinos
By Joni Hawk, Sep 21st 2006Right after a huge publicized arrest of British online casino CEO David Carruthers in the US, another arrest of online gambling Executive is under way. Peter Dicks from New York declared that it is needless to say that the persons involved in this market, are starting to use some caution with the production of public events, with an increase accent on those which involve online casinos in the US.
One of these particular online casinos, Bodog, has stopped its planned conference from Las Vegas just a short while ago, and now continuing in this mentality, it has cancelled its second effort at putting up a conference in Nassau, Bahamas during the month of December. Just last week, the Casino Affiliate meeting that was held in Las Vegas had a major decline in persons attending, fact that really irritated the organizer of the event and made him lash out and call the online casinos and their managers' 'cowards with no guts'.
It was a proven fact that only 300 people showed up for the convention. All of this is very hard to and besides this, the fact that Bodog Founder Calvin Ayre, or any other high profile online casino exec. would show up at an event like this.
On the cancellation of the online casinos mega-event he said: “because of much uncertainty shaped by the U.S. Department of Justice's recent actions, we have chosen not to proceed with the Bodog online casino Marketing Conference at Atlantis in December.
Because of all the attention that our industry has been having in recent months by certain officials within the U.S. government, a large number of speakers and attendees have stated their anxiety about taking part in an industry event of such magnitude.
I must apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I can assure you that our decision was made with careful consideration for the safety of everyone involved."
