The PPA Begins to Protest
By Joni Hawk, Oct 2nd 2006Because more arrests of top executives from the online casino world, took place, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has started a protest against the legislation, labeling this attempt as a try to "promote and protect America's favorite past-time".
Having in its ranks online and offline poker players, the PPA has always been one of the first organizations to support and defend the rights of online casino poker players.
They are supported by several poker players, online casinos, and card rooms from across the United States. And also, the latest protest against the legislation to prohibit online casino poker was led by the President of the PPA. In this action, he told players to call a toll free number in order to defend the freedom of Americans to use the online casinos.
He said that anyone that wanted to partake should call a publicly advertised number and speak with the senator's office in order to make some key arguments. The callers needed to make their intentions know, the fact that that they were legitimate voters and that they strongly disagreed with any legislation interdicting online casino poker, thus the senator should vote against such legislation.
The players were also required to make some additional requests such as: the government should take into consideration the regulation of online poker, very similar to how the government regulates other forms of gaming, like lotteries. The senator must reach the conclusion that interdictions similar to the ones that were made, will not work and such legislation would only make many illegal operations.
The PPA of course was interested, to prevent poker from being banned and in this perspective has encouraged everyone concerned with the future of online casinos, to join forces with them and rebel.
