$1 Billion in Sales for Oregon’s “mini-casino”

By Elizabeth Scott, Jan 25th 2007
Oregon Lottery and gambling in general, has drained its share of controversy, including generic issues such as the integrity of legalized and/or state-sponsored gambling.

From the games offer point of view, the lottery has an important variety of products, from Megabucks to licensed video poker machines and authorized video slot machines.

The Oregon legislature permitted the lottery to set up video poker terminals in bars and restaurants around the state, tripling Oregon's sales. The lottery reached USD $1 billion for the first time in its history.

Now, helped by the popularity of its new electronic slot games, the Oregon Lottery seems to be one of the top 10 states in per capita lottery sales. At this point, the lottery is beginning to seem, more like a mini-casino.
