Bet365.com Director made generous donation to the Labour Party
By Joni Hawk, Nov 10th 2006The (London) Independent in the UK reported: "Peter Coates, the director of one of Britain's biggest online betting companies (Bet365.com) made a donation of £50,000 to Labour Party while the Government was discussing the final proposals in the project of reforming the gambling industry."
Mr Peter Coates, a lifelong Labour supporter, is also a shareholder in Lindley catering investments which has contracts at football grounds planning to build casinos.
Bet365.com the online betting company it has an offshore casino arm and other games online.
Mr. Coates also made cash gifts to Labour Party in the past and he stated that he did not gave the money because of the Gambling Bill but only because he is a long-standing supporter of the Labour Party where he is a member for years.
A Labour spokemen declared that no donation offered to the Party will never offer the donor influence over government policy or party policy.
