Betfair Poker Launches Skill-Based Structure

Betfair Poker released the most comprehensive skill-based leader board structure of any poker room. "Betfair Poker leader boards" reveal the top players in ten disciplines of tournament and cash play, positioning players according to their financial success at the poker tables.

Betfair Poker promised half a million dollars a year and each of the top ten leader boards will get each month $30,000. There will also be a free roll for a seat at the Betfair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore for players in the top three of each leader board.

When players engage in a game of poker, they can look at the leader boards and know immediately if they are up against one of the leaders. Some of the players considered this not a great idea saying their opponents will have this way an advantage over them and opted out, but most of them enjoy the idea of intimidating the opposition and growing a reputation at the table.

"The Betfair Poker leaderboards add another dimension to assessing your opponent. The top players might be able to steal a few extra pots as people respect their raises, but they can also get caught out by bluffing on the basis of their reputation."

The competitive banter in the Betfair Forum has already begun as players scan for their name in this lucrative competition for bragging rights.
