California Democrats Neutral in Casino Expansion Dispute
By Elizabeth Scott, Nov 28th 2007Regardless of the ardent appeals from labor leaders to unite in a battle against four tribes, California Democrats came to a decision to steer clear of the dispute and remain neutral.
According to a report from the California Press Enterprise the state party's executive board decided to remain neutral on the dispute on four February ballot measures that would untie new gambling development agreements made official this year by the Legislature. The verdict denotes the party, which frequently throws its money and manpower behind ballot-measure campaigns, will not dedicate any resources to sustaining or overcoming the measures.
