Cheater jailed for 6 months
By Joni Hawk, Jul 30th 2007Three croupiers from Crown Casino were drawn by Alexus Benetton into a plot to cheat the gambling establishment. Benetton is a 42 year old huckster from Melbourne.
Between June and August 2003 the croupiers paid out losing bets and then were paid commissions by Benetton for their part.
Benetton was arraigned at the Victorian County Court where he pleaded guilty for one count of corruptly giving false commissions and two counts of theft, involving the stealing of $700 worth of gambling chips and $100 cash. He was sentenced by Judge Joe Gullaci for 19 months but suspended 13 months of the sentence for two years.
