China is Very Close to having Online Casinos

By Joni Hawk, Sep 27th 2006
Known for their strong disagreement with gambling, the people's republic of China, is reconsidering the issue of legalizing online casino. Mr. Tony Tong, the CEO of Pacific Net who is in the business of selling Baccarat machines, says that the Chinese government is considering licensing online casinos in order to establish themselves in Macaus, an important casino capital, that is now expanding to the online casino industry also.

The Chinese government is believed to have been taking some hefty taxes from the gambling industry, something close to 40 percent on the house winnings of the little casino capital of Macau. Considering Tongs predictions, if they turn out to be true, than there will be a lot more tax for the government, and the online casino may help Chinese government's incomes because the online casino industry is clearly flourishing.

GiaMedia, A Taiwanese group that bought a Canadian online casino company is in the business of selling games software has high hopes on entering the Asian market. They have a FunTown site that is already one of the largest Mahjong site in the world, a place where players can enjoy this Chinese game online.

Tong reveals some more information, about the Asian gamblers, saying that the Asian online casino gambler does not like random number generators. They would clearly prefer a live dealer aspect dealing five hands provided through video over the internet. Some small changes are to occur, but it can definitely be said that the online casino industry has already made a big step in China territory, where clearly the Asian market is interested and the government may benefit from the tax money brought in.
