El Blondie still strong at the poker table

By Daniel Michaels, May 7th 2007
David Colclough also known as El Blondie won the Manchester leg of the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour on Monday. And it seems that this is just the beginning of his run. He won £88,000 on Monday, one year after his last success at the poker table.

He struggled to win the game, and in the head-to-head battle he went against Barry Neville, who qualified online. The dual lasted two and a half hours. David had 60% of the chips and when the two entered heads-up he managed to increase the percentage in his favor.

The blinds were of $25,000/$50,000, but Colclough managed to win with a flush. He said that this was one of the toughest match ups he has ever had. Third place was occupied by Tom Sambrook, poker commentator and consultant for the film Casino Royale. He was eliminated by Neville.

Sambrook, along with Neville, was one of four online qualifiers who made it to the final table.

These are the results of the competition: (Place/Name/Prize)

  1. David Colclough £88,300
  2. Barry Neville £47,000
  3. Tom Sambrook £31,400
  4. Nick Slade £22,800
  5. Ryan Fronda £17,100
  6. Richard Ashby £14,200
  7. Chris Bruce £11,400
  8. Jack Dionysiou £8,600
  9. Victor Kaye £5,700
