Google and Yahoo! End Struggle With US Gov't
By Daniel Michaels, Jan 17th 2008After Yahoo and Google recently ended their case with US after being accused to have made millions through promoting illegal online gambling, their issues continue but tackled from another angle. On a civil trial set to begin on February 11, the two search engine giants will need to pass the test of liability in California. Further, the court will be asked to continue to restrict the companies to operate similar action in the future.
In the California Superior Court lawsuit started in August 2004 it was claimed that Yahoo!, Google and other several known websites gained millions of dollars by allowing illegal online gambling advertisements.
