Gutsy guy, Gambler of The Week at Nine.com
By Joni Hawk, Mar 24th 2006Again Nine.com has awarded an unusual Gambler of The Week. They considered him a real gambler who has taken a heroic or foolish risk during the previous week.
Mr. Thomas Burns made an obscene sign at a construction worker in Pittsburgh. The construction worker reported him to the local authorities, and he was later cited for antisocial conduct.
Mr. Burns tells he became irritated because of a traffic delay and made the gesture at a construction worker. If I had a citation for every time I made an obscene gesture ... well, let's just say I'd be on the news myself."
Pennsylvania courts decided the gesture doesn't automatically represent disorderly conduct, because it is not 'obscene' as defined by the law, except it is used in a clearly sexual context. Mrs. Maria Marmo of Nine.com's Media Relations says that this makes Mr. Burns a “gutsy man for showing the finger."
Mrs. Marmo declares that she simply loved the story from the beginning "Getting cited for an obscene hand gesture makes you think twice. I just had to name Mr. Burns our gambler of the week for his 'gutsy gesture.'
As this week's Gambler of the Week, Mr. Burns will receive Nine.com merchandise and gift certificates for use on Nine.com.
