Las Vegas Sands Corp interested in UK casino

Reuters reports that the Las Vegas Sands Corp. is interested in making an investment of at least $760 million (the equivalent of 390 million pounds) in a casino resort on British land.

The company's chief operating officer said that they will only do it if they can build amenities like retail malls and permanent residences in the same place.

William Weidner also added at the Reuters Hotels and Casinos Summit that Sands doesn't expect Japan to pass a law that will allow casinos before 2008.

The company considered the Manchester casino project proposal but Las Vegas Sands Corp will only proceed if they are permitted to go along with the proven strategy of building a mixed-use destination.

Manchester was recently chosen to host England's first Las Vegas-style super casino by the government's Casino Advisory panel.

This firm is willing to invest at least one-and-a-half times the $507 million the competition is willing to invest in the Manchester project.
