Online Casino group involved in legal battle in Autralia

By Daniel Michaels, Mar 28th 2007
A major legal battle is taking place in Australia between the international online casino betting exchange and the provincial government of Western Australia. The Australian government has recently imposed a legislation which outlaws betting exchanges and online casinos.

This has caused the UK land based casino to contest the decision, and addressing its complaint to the High Court of Australia. The casinos demands the overturn of the legislation, as it is unconstitutional.

The law has turned the online gamblers and online casino owners into criminals. The same law was imposed in the US but the US Department of Justice didn’t want to get involved.

Now the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is being applied in Australia. The legalization of online casinos in Australia pleased everybody, and the law came unexpected.

A long legal battle now will take place and the Australian casino gamblers will have to wait and see if they will be able to practice their hobbies legally in their country.
