The Florida Project Continues
By Arthur Levine, May 17th 2007Plans for a $1 billion mixed-use project at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino will continue. A site plan for the casino has been approved by the commissioners, and it contains 430,814 square feet of retail and office space.
A special assessment district has also been approved by the commissioners with the purpose of raising money among unit owners for infrastructure improvements on the property.
The city residents will not suffer financially from the project to put it lightly. The development would include 70 stores, 1,500 condos, a 500-room hotel, a 2,500-seat theater and dining facilities and it would occupy only a small portion of the 2.65-million-square-foot Village at Gulfstream Park project.
The project will be built on 60 acres at Gulfstream Park, on the southeast corner of Hallandale Beach Boulevard and South Federal Highway.
