Two Major Jurisdictions Fail to Get White-listed
By Daniel Michaels, Jan 24th 2008Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake in Canada and Antigua and Barbuda applications for the right to advertise in the UK have been rejected. The UK Gambling Commission did not approve the two jurisdictions in the ‘white list’ and the decision was not followed by any explications.
The importance of being 'white-listed' is this: all online casinos who wish to advertise freely in the UK must have either a license in Britain, the European Economic Area or jurisdictions on an approved "white-list."
However, the UK Gaming Commission white listed Tasmania, who recently joined Alderney and the Isle of Man. These two are the only jurisdictions outside UK main lands that were approved. All online casinos having a Tasmanian license will be able to start advertising in UK starting January 31.
