US Online Gambling Ban Not Reaching Its Goal

Even though the US online gambling ban has been in effect since late 2006, US players continue placing wagers online. However, the authorities seem to be blind and deaf as they continue to pursue the ridiculous online gambling ban.

Recently, 12 men were accused of gambling, conspiracy to engage in gambling and money laundering. They are said to have deal with and profited millions of dollars in sustaining online gambling over the web and phone in a gambling site, based in Costa Rica, serving American users.

As sports bookies in the US could not process wagers by their customers, the website would offer offshore services for a weekly fee, which the bookies were charged. The fee ranged between 15 and 30 dollars per week per gambler.

The number of US gamblers does not look as it has decreased especially when most of them consider that this is a freedom that cannot be taken from them as they are the only ones who can decide what to do with their spare time, privacy and money.

Notwithstanding the arrests, the online gambling ban looks to not be very successful in its goal of eliminating online gambling, except with the closing of few websites.
