Vegas Style Casino to be Opened in Spain

Europe is well on the way to getting its own Vegas style casino. The regional government of Aragon officially agreed on the plans for 32 hotel casinos, two theme parks, a racecourse and a stadium. The venture is expected to open over the next decade in a desert region of eastern Spain, Los Monegros.

On approximately 2,000 hectares of desert, developers also plan to build residential areas, an equestrian center and a golf course.

The London-based consortium of investors International Leisure Development is the one who provides the money for the development. The venture was names 'Gran Escala,' which means large-scale and has a price tag of 17-billion-euro ($28.47 billion)

The Los Monegros desert is situated half-way between Madrid and Barcelona, the two biggest cities in Spain. This location was chosen because it offers good transportation links, favorable tax laws and relatively low land prices.
