Blackjack : Counting the cards easy at blackjack

By Joni Hawk

Level: Mar 28th 2007
Certain cards are favorable to the player and certain cards are favorable to the dealer. This has been proven mathematically thanks to the use of computer trials. A player can play the game in a certain way if he knows what cards are left.

If the cards that are left are not favorable to the player, he will know to lower his bet in that situation. Card counting gives the player an edge over the casino and it offers him the possibility to make a profit in time.

There are two myths related to card counting and we are going to clarify them once and for all:

  1. Not every card seen or dealt is memorized by the card counters.
  2. The card counting system is about the long term, because it narrows the possibility of certain cards being dealt, it does not predict with exactness which card will be dealt next.

The Logic behind card counting
There are many techniques that can be used by a card counter to keep track of the cards played from a certain deck. The method which will be presented is very efficient yet simple:

The basic strategy is necessary before you start to count, because it is the base of all counting systems, and it is simple and easy to memorize. Combining the card counting with the basic strategy you will have an edge towards the casino.

All you have to do is practice this method for a while and then the odds will be on your side. This strategy could be taken as an introduction, because you can use other counting methods which are more efficient but slightly difficult if you want to.

Counting Cards the lazy way
This method is perfect to use when you play casino blackjack and/or online blackjack. It is not very difficult and it does not require a lot of effort.

All you have to do is observe the cards that are coming from the deck, and when you observe a situation that tends to be favorable for you, you bet accordingly.

If the high cards haven't been dealt for a long time, then you should raise the bet. Your observation should be based on the extremes.

The high cards are the ones you should follow and if you don't see them for a while it is best to raise the bet as they probably will be dealt soon.

Also because the high cards have not been dealt in a while, most of the dealt cards have been face cards and low value cards. This increases your odds even further because one of the face cards might come together with a high card.

This method is not very complex but it is efficient, and it is the best way to start your cards counting "profession".
