Blackjack : Money and discipline required to play advantage blackjack

By Daniel Michaels

Level: Apr 12th 2007
"Advantage" blackjack players are the ones that can keep track of the cards that have already been dealt, to carry an advantage on the house. Still, not too many players possess the skill of counting cards.

As a response to complicated card counting methods, some people have developed easier methods, which mainly focus on the most important cards. The advantage is reduced with these methods, but at least it's a start.

The old systems are different because they take hundred of hours to master, and they require money to be tested "in the field". A lot of practice was required before one was able to use these methods to their full potential.

The new card counting methods are very different - they can be learned in a few hours, and they are easy, anyone can use them. And that is a problem, because many don’t understand what card counting is all about.

An experienced card counter can make $15 to $20 per hour in the long run, with a $25 average bet. But that average player can also lose thousand of dollars in one day, and sometimes months might pass before he wins again. This is not a problem though for an experienced card counter because he knows that he will recover that money.

An inexperienced player might not see things this way, and might not accept such losses. Even if he wins, a fast card counting method won't bring him the same profit as a long card counting method would.

Anyone who wants to become a card dealer, even if he uses a fast method will be in advantage because he will see the game from a different perspective. He will no longer base his game on luck. He will start to bet more and more money, but he will also win more.

But a card counter must also know when it's time to leave a table. He must follow his counting system and when there aren't any possibilities of making a profit he must change the table. He will no longer play the game for fun and remain at a table to be entertained.

Our "Ace/10 Front Count" booklet offers a method that will assure an advantage in the long run, as long as the instructions are properly followed.
