Blackjack : Online Casinos for Blackjack Players

By Arthur Levine

Level: Jun 19th 2007
The real casinos offer various rules and bonuses for the blackjack games. Can the online casinos do the same? Usually each online casino has its own sets of rules: Cryptologic and Microgaming online casinos have up to eight different types of rules.

There are some casinos that offer different types of blackjack, and each of these types has its own rules. These games are very interesting and are more advantageous than the regular casino games.

Double exposure Blackjack
The online casinos that use Microgaming and RTG software offer this type of blackjack, in which both of the dealer’s cards are faced up. There is a catch though; the dealer wins all ties, except for the Blackjack ones.

The rest of the rules are exactly like the rules of blackjack but there may still be variations connected to the number of splits, combinations allowed to double, and so on. The advantage of the casinos at this game with these rules is of 0.7%.

Pontoon
RTG and Microgaming online casinos offer this game. The game offers the players more possibilities to double and also offers the rule of five cards with double paying.

Both of the dealer's cards are faced down and in case of a tie the dealer doesn't win. Let’s take a look at more details about the game: the game is played with pack of 52 cards, the value of the cards is the same as in blackjack. This is the hierarchy of combinations:

  1. Pontoon – the equivalent of blackjack
  2. Five cards combination – five cards without going bust
  3. Combination of cards with a value as close to 21 as possible
  4. Bust – more than 21 points

The dealer will deal two faced-up cards to the player and two faced-down cards to himself. The dealer must take up to 17 points and remain on 5 cards or over 16 points, except for soft 17.

The player has various opportunities: he can split and then re-split once; he can double regardless of the number of cards he has, and he can buy after he has doubled. The difference is that the player should double while having less than 15 points.

After taking their cards, the dealer and the player compare hands and the player loses if he has extra cards. The Pontoon and the Five Card Combination are paid 2:1, and the rest of the winning combinations are paid 1:1. The dealer wins in case of a tie. The by-best and insurance are not present in this game.

The advantage of the online casinos at this game is of 0.17%. The game is based on optimal strategy.

Caribbean 21
Online casinos that use RTG software offer this game, which is played with only one pack of cards. The game is different than blackjack in certain areas:

  1. The Ace is only one point
  2. A Caribbean 21 is made of an Ace and two 10s, and is paid 3:2 for the primary bet, but not for the double bets.

  3. The player can double whenever he wants on any cards, and he can buy several times after doubling.

  4. Any two cards can be split.

  5. The player can give in at any time, but he loses half of the available bets
  6. All ties are won by the dealer.
  7. The dealers deals himself only one faced-up card
  8. The player can have Caribbean 21 insurance, which is paid 9:1 if the dealer has an open Ace.

The advantage of the online casinos at this game is of 0.2%. The game is based on optimal strategy.

Spanish 21
The online casinos that use RTG software offer this game, which is played with six-eight “Spanish” packs of cards. The 10s are removed from a pack, and because this favors the dealer, the player has the following benefits:

  1. If the player has 21 or both he and the dealer have blackjack he always wins.
  2. The player can double regardless of the number of cards he has.

  3. The player can double and buy after he has split Aces.
  4. The player has the possibility of giving in after doubling
  5. 5-cards 21s are paid 3:2
  6. 6-cards 21s are paid 3:1
  7. 6-7-8 and 7-7-7 different suits are paid 3:2, if they have different suits they are paid 2:1, and the spades are paid 3:1.

The advantage of the online casinos at this game is of 0.4%. The game is based on optimal strategy.

Super Fun 21
Online casinos that use Microgaming and RTG software offer this game, which pays 1:1 if the player has a Blackjack, but the player has various advantages. These are the main difference between super fun 21 and blackjack:

  1. The player can split up to 4 times
  2. The player can double down with any number of cards, including after split.
  3. The player can split, buy, or double, after he ahs split Aces.

  4. The player can give in at any time but he loses half of the available bets.
  5. If there were no splits and the player has 20 or less points with 6 cards, he wins.
  6. If there were no splits 21 points with 5 cards are paid 2:1
  7. The blackjack always wins.
  8. Blackjack of diamonds is paid 2:1

The advantage of the casinos at this game with these rules is of 0.75%.

Blackjack Switch
The online casinos that use Playtech software offer this game, in which the player is dealt two hands and he has to place two bets of the same value. The player can switch the upper cards between hands.

For example if he has a 10 and a 5, and a10 and a 6, he can switch the cards, to have a 10,10 and a 6,5. The basic rules are the same as in Blackjack: doubling is allowed on two cards, splitting is allowed, and doubling after a split is allowed.

Because the player is advantaged by the changes, the dealer has the following benefits:

  1. The dealer doesn't make blackjack check.
  2. The player gets paid at a blackjack 1:1.
  3. It is considered a tie if the dealer has 22 points against any not fire hand of the player, except blackjack.

The advantage of the casinos at this game with these rules is of 0.05%.
