Antigua demands $3.4 bln from U.S

By Arthur Levine, Jun 28th 2007
Antigua and Barbuda demanded $3.44 billion from the U.S as compensation for breaking WTO rules, in banning online gambling. Antigua wants to withdraw intellectual property protection for U.S patents, industrial designs, and trademarks.

The U.S lost its first appeal against the WTO ruling and now they want to clarify the situation at the Geneva-based trade arbiter. U.S officials said that when they joined the WTO in 1994 they had no intention of opening its market to online gambling from abroad.
