David Beckham's Ball Used to Raise Money for Charity

By George Oates, Jul 22nd 2006
The not so lucky ball with which David Beckham missed out the shootout kick at Euro 2004 Quarter-Final match vs. France is currently in the hands of GoldenPalace.com.

The story of the most famous ball in football history began when star striker David Beckham sent it sailing over the goal, missing the net and thus disappointing lots of English supporters.

And after which, a very lucky supporter, managed to get it out of the stadium keeping it hidden under his short, and shortly after put the ball up for auction on eBay, the well-known Internet auction site, where the ball sold for euro 28,050.00 (approx. $35,000 USD).

The CEO of GoldenPalace.com, Richard Rowe, tells us his plans: "With this famous ball, we intend to raise a lot more money for charity, more than we paid for it. We will travel with the ball around the world in order to raise more and more money for charitable purposes."

After already being associated with Formula 1's Team Minardi, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and professional Boxing,
GoldenPalace.com now has the "Beckham Ball" and plans on using it to raise money for charity.

GoldenPalace.com is renown for turning sports relationships into gains for charitable organizations. Among the contributions of GoldenPalace.com, are included funding to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

They also send American Ray Sabbatini, a man which was sick with MS to Pamplona, Spain to the "Running of the Bulls" so as to order to help raise awareness and funding for the cause; contributions are made to The Retired oxers Foundation as a result of all tattoo sponsorships to help support retired boxers; contributions were made to help fund schooling for elementary school children in a New York Charity Basketball Tournament, featuring NBA legends Dennis Rodman and Magic Johnson.
