GSA wants to Implement its Standards

By George Oates, Mar 29th 2006
Trying to increase the speed to which the market and implements its open standards, the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) will be in favor of some 3rd party companies theat are to develop a protocol tool kits based on GSA standards. The goal of the association is to give 3rd party developers the advantage of fast execution of the GSA standards.

Radical Blue Gaming, from Reno, NV is going to be among the first companies to begin this. Russ Ristine, the VP of Radical Blue Gaming declared: "It would be a great thing for manufacturers, if the game designers could have a host simulator and verify feedback immediately, thus enabling them to go to the next step comfortably. The system developers need such a thing that enables them to run scenarios over and over again in order to test their developing products. That is what these tool kits will accomplish."

Jim Morrow, the VP of Advanced Development, Bally Technologies Inc. and the Chair of GSA's G2S Committee declared: "Now that the GSA's standards, have been accepted by everyone, the next step for us id to help in actually bringing the standards into real life execution, and that's the role of development tool kits."

The tool kits are some development suites that usually go together with values and allow game manufacturers to apply and test the standard on their equipment. Not to mention the fact that these tools are also useful for casinos, because they can help the casino improve its operational efficiency.

Instead of ongoing and developing its own tools, GSA will have the aim of developing its standards, while not interfering in the way the standards are implemented by individual manufacturers. GSA will offer the guidelines that 3rd party tool developers must meet, when the tools for GSA standards. Existing Source Code of present GSA toolkits will be accessible to GSA members at no charge, showing yet another benefit of association membership.
